Dr Dickson A. O. Akoh is a distinguished youth development expert and visionary leader, celebrated for his work in creativity, innovation, peace-building, community service, and youth empowerment. His tireless efforts over the decades have positioned him as a key figure in addressing the challenges facing Nigerian youth today.
Born on July 10, 1973, Dr Akoh holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Abuja and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Criminology at the same institution. His global academic recognition includes a Doctorate of Philosophy (Humanities) from Commonwealth University, Belize, South America. In 2020, he was further honored with a Professorship in Social Works by the Freedom University and Theological Seminary, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA.
In 1998, Dr Akoh founded the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN)—a pioneering youth-focused organization that has since grown into one of Nigeria’s most structured and impactful movements. With over 187,000 officers and members, PCN operates a strong network of branches across the country. It is incorporated in Nigeria, recognized by the Federal Government, and holds Special Consultative Status with both the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU).
In recognition of his far-reaching contributions to youth empowerment, peace-building, and national development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, appointed him in June 2024 to the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State.
On the international stage, Dr Akoh was recently named Nigeria’s National Coordinator by the International Consortium for Societal Resilience (i-NCSR+), based at the University of Manchester, further cementing his role as a global advocate for youth and societal progress.
Dr Akoh's commitment to humanitarian service and nation-building has earned him over 120 awards and honors from respected national and international organizations.
Also, in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities and contributions to humanity, he was conferred with several chieftaincy titles, prominent of them all is Oyachaba K’Idoma (The Great Achiever) conferred on him by the Idoma Traditional Council of Benue State, Nigeria.
